A flea cycle can last up to 3 weeks, so expect to experience fleas over this period. When we spray, we kill all the adult fleas, however, any flea eggs present will continue to hatch over this period. Once they come in contact with our product they will begin to die.
The Flea Life Cycle
Understanding the flea life cycle is crucial to effective flea control. Fleas go through four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The entire cycle can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on environmental conditions.
When a flea problem exists within your home, the fastest possible elimination of all fleas is desirable. Our professional treatment targets fleas at all stages of their life cycle to ensure complete elimination.
What to Expect After Treatment
After we've treated your home, it's normal to continue seeing fleas for up to 3 weeks. This is because:
- Our initial treatment kills all adult fleas immediately
- Flea eggs that are already present will continue to hatch over the 3-week period
- As new fleas emerge, they come into contact with our treatment and die
- The treatment remains effective throughout this entire cycle
Speed Up the Elimination Process
To help speed up this process it is recommended that you go over any carpeted / wood floor boards or rugs etc. with a broom or similar item, a few days after spraying. This simulates vibrations such as those caused by passing animals.
These vibrations encourage the fleas to hatch. The sooner this happens the faster all fleas are eliminated from your home.
Tips for Preventing Future Infestations
- Regularly vacuum carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture
- Wash pet bedding frequently in hot water
- Keep your pets on a regular flea prevention program
- Maintain your yard by mowing the lawn and removing debris
- Consider treating outdoor areas where pets spend time
